Police search operation in Kathmandu, 122 Chinese nationals arrested

Police on Monday launched a 'Search and Arrest' operation in Kathmandu on suspicion that Chinese citizens were involved in illegal activities. One Chinese citizen has been arrested in that connection.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and Kathmandu Police Complex, Teku operated a joint operation from Manamaju, Maharajgunj and Budhanilkantha areas of Kathmandu. In that case, Chinese citizens have been found to have been working illegally in the area, including IT, hotels, even after the visa expired.




They were found working in the barracks system, said Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Uttam Raj Subedi. He said, "We have been found working in the same house for 25 to 30 people."

According to him, the police have recovered a large number of laptops and mobiles. It is yet to be tested scientifically. The arrested were placed under different circles and subdivisions of the Kathmandu Police, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramdutt Joshi.
