Indonesia: At least 25 people have been killed and 14 others injured in a bus accident in Indonesia
Rescuers said on Tuesday that a passenger had crashed into a river just below the passing lane.
Dozens of passengers boarded the bus.
During the accident, the bus dropped down to 100 meters. The accident took place in Sumatra province in the southern part of the country on Monday night, police said. The death toll from the accident has reached 24, police confirmed. But locals said 25 bodies were found. Pictures of rescuers bringing injured and dead bodies out of the scene have been made public.
Police and rescuers are continuing the search and rescue operation, and some people are reported missing. Similarly, some people say the rescuers were busted. The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, the officials said.
The bus is estimated to have about 50 passengers in the accident. The accident site is considered a remote area of the country. In the Sukabumi region of Java, in the western part of Indonesia, there were also accidents last September and at least 21 were killed.
